Logan's Testimony

Keep your fingers crossed. Kaycee has been our dutiful blog updater until now. When she got a job (YEAH!!!) her blog time diminished greatly. She's still teaching piano and helps me with Algebra for Burke as well. So I'm giving it a go.

For those who don't know, Seminary is a religion class that our teens attend at 6 a.m. everyday they go to school. Each year they study a different text of scripture. This year it's been my blessing, along with my good friend, Staci Dansie, to teach these amazing young people from the Book of Mormon.

Prior to beginning the year, I asked each of the missionaries serving from our ward to write their testimony of the Book of Mormon along with their favorite scripture then send it to me. Our youth have been friends with each of the young men that are currently serving. I thought this would bring more meaning to the study this year.

Logan sent a dvd that had not only his testimony but also testimonies of people he has baptized, his companion and other members of his branch. I hope to be able to post them all over the next few weeks and catch up the blog.

It's interesting that he is so hard on himself. To hear him talk, he was some awful kid. I more than anyone know what a handful he was. But I also saw his potential since the day he was born. Now he's living up to that potential by loving and serving as the Savior wants him to do.

It was great to talk to him on Christmas day. We had the best Christmas we've had in a long time. Probably, because we're all excited he'll be home next year. He does sound just like an Indian now. It's pretty funny. He's still sick. But it's ok. We know he's in the Lord's hands.

He finally (after 9 months) was transferred. Pres. Nichols didn't want to move him from his doctors. Logan received word before Christmas to prepare himself and his doctor because he would be leaving. He hopped on a plane last week and is now serving in Chennai. The first thing he told me this week during email time was, "I LOVE being a missionary". Those are five of the best words a Mom could hear.

Hope you enjoy his video. Check back over the next while. I'll try to update. Leave a comment about his accent and testimony. I'll forward them onto him. He loves to hear the comments.

Logan - Thank you for being such a good example to your family! Your 4 little Ardis' cousins really look up to you. They talk about you all the time & Brayden when he is counting down to his baptism talks about how Logan will be home for his baptism. He is really excited that you will be there. Thank you for sharing your testimony with us and your testimony of the Book of Mormon. As a family we have been reading the Book of Mormon, this past year, and they kids have really looked forward to scripture study at night and dont' let us forget about it. I love your new accent! We are praying for you and praying that your health improves! Bryan will definately have to get his hands on you when you get home to get you healthy again. We love you and are thankful for the example you are setting! Love Heather, Bryan & kids

Wow! He does sound like an Indian. :) That's so neat. Thanks for sharing his testimony with us. I can't wait to see other videos. I for one am so proud of Logan, Drew was sick through out his whole mission too (he couldn't not drink the water when someone offered it to him) and he still has issues from time to time but the Lord has blessed him in many other ways because of his faithfulness and his service. I can't believe he will be home in less than year. How exciting!

Thanks for your leaving comments. I've forwarded them to Logan. He'll be so excited to hear from everyone. He'll be especially excited that the Saints won!! Who Dat!! Staci, when he gets back he'll get to hang out with you and Andrew that'll be super cool. Heather, I know he's very humbled by the idea of being example to younger people. He takes that role seriously. April, it's good to know Drew survived & got him a pretty wife too:)

Cheree,

This is Jake Gruwell. I was probably an annoying teenager last time you saw me! I found your blog through Caroline's. Just wanted to say how awesome it is to see Logan on his mission. My only memories of him are of an "energetic" kid running around the New Orleans building. It's really awesome to see him serving the Lord and so mature. Tell Howard hello and thanks for putting up for me when I was a punk kid.

So Jake, "energetic" is the perfect adjective for Logan. I remember Levi, Logan, Sarah Gomez and Esther EVERY Sunday after church climbing the wall behind the New Orleans building. Your Mom and I were convinced some poor mission president would get Levi & Logan on missions together. Funny how they grow up and that energy turns into something good.
I don't remember you ever being an annoying teenager. I did go check out your blog. You have a beautiful family. What part of TX are you in? We're in Dallas. It's good to hear from you. I sent your comment to Logan. He'll love hearing from you as well!!!!
